    I still think about this show and return to listen the soundtrack even though it's been roughly a year since I saw it for the first time. I love the atmosphere and ambience of this show so much.

      I remember finishing this anime in high school, actually. It was before I even had internet connection to download, and I was slowly collecting the dvds (lol). I watched the last episode on New Year's Eve and it's a memory I can't really ever forget. I guess I'm showing my age a bit.

      @@AyaTeien That sounds magical. Nice to see more people having vivid memories about experiencing this show. I wish they'd make more of these kinds of shows but I'm afraid it's not something that sells in this day and age.

      @@G0blin_Darts I don't think it was very popular even then, but you're right. I remember the early 00's being full of melancholy, dark anime. Have you seen the other series created by ABe? Highly recommend Haibane Renmei or Serial Experiments Lain. If you want something with a more dystopic Texhnolyze vibe, Ergo Proxy is amazing. You could also try Wolf's Rain, but it will take a while to pick up pace.

    • @G0blin_Darts

      @@AyaTeien I've actually seen all of those. Ergo Proxy I didn't really like. A lot of the episodes post episode 3 feel like drudgery. The show has cool ideas and character designs, not to mention an astonishingly beautiful opening song that I still listen to this day. But as an anime I didn't feel like I enjoyed it as a complete package. I feel like I would have enjoyed a manga of this anime's world more than the actual show. Haibane Renmei, Lain and Wolf's Rain were enjoyable with Lain being the most confusing but that's what I liked about it. It was intriguing to try and figure out the meaning of what I was seeing each episode and trying to understand the story. Wolf's Rain was a bit slow at times and I struggle to remember the general idea of the show but I did watch it a long time ago.

    • @AyaTeien
      @AyaTeien Месяц назад

      @@G0blin_Darts Ergo Proxy can be pretentious, I agree, but the ending made it worth it. Although the show totally loses it's feeling somewhere along the way. Like the entire vibe you signed up for in the first few episodes dies quickly for a fever dream of surrealism. Still, I enjoyed it. Oh man, most of the music from Monoral is so good. It's a shame they stopped making albums. There isn't much else as forlorn as Texhnolyze, honestly, but it also suffers a bit from pretention near the end. I often wonder if I'd like it the same way I did then, if I watched it over today. I did watch an interesting show semi-recently called Denno Coil. Totally unexpected from the images I saw. Oh, also Heavenly Delusion. Actually the latter was so good that I've considered reading the manga just because I'm desperate for another season.

    This song perfectly encapsulates the deep sorrow of a catholic monarchist observing the modern world - its shallowness, its soullessness... will all graces of God forever frown upon the shame of man? It reminds me of Nietzche's "God is dead" text: "God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?"

    I used to like this type of smooth and bluesy jazz. That includes the Kenji Kawasaki River of Crystals or ballads like Pearl by Ilaria Graziano. I even dig these types of anime that contain tragedy. But I've reached 40 years old now; I still like the vibe, but I prefer to be happy. Like this song, for example, she is really on the brink of losing God's grace and questioning things. All I can say is that you're responsible for your own happiness. Neville Goddard and Rhonda Byrne changed me so much that I live my life without attachment to sadness. I can at times, but I choose to be happy and free from all of these worries. I manifested tonnes of things and am freaking happy now. God was never to blame. It is us.

      I completely understand. This anime was the pinnacle of art for me when I was ~14, watching other philosophically heavy shows like Lain, Haibane Renmei, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, GiTS, etc. It was probably just a manifestation of my wild hormonally driven misery at the time, among other familial things. I do love it, and it still remains one of my favorites, but I'm a little more mellow now. Yoko Kanno changed my life with some of those anime osts, esp featuring Ilaria Graziano and Steve Matthews. I'm happy you're happy now!

    1:34 'In 1960, 85 years after the Challenger Deep was discovered on that pioneering voyage, two men set out to reach the bottom. Jacques Piccard and Navy Lt. Don Walsh, sheltered only by a cramped bathyscape submersible called the Trieste. Their 5 hour descent was fraught with challenges. The water pressure near the bottom was nearly a thousand times greater than atmospheric pressure at sea level. During the journey, this caused the viewing window to crack, limiting their time spent on the sea floor to only 20 minutes. Even in such a short amount of time, what they saw would shock the scientific community........Life. Pale shrimp and flounder like fish, along with what they described as a dark brown diatomaceous ooze that covered the sea floor. Piccard described this moment with excitement in a book about the voyage. "Here, in an instant, was the answer that biologists had asked for decades." "Could life exist in the greatest depths of the ocean? It could!"'
